heart_of_courage[Toboe sits just outside the Travel Agency, watching the crowds of people walking to and fro in the city. Every now and then he gets to his feet, tail wagging as someone notices him on their way, but with a pat or a wave they're gone and he is back to sitting again, watching. The many new smells hit his nose with each person. Different worlds, different smells, new faces. It's all a thrill and an exciting new adventure.
And somewhere, buried in his fur, a small glimmer of hope tries to find those familiar smells among the sea of Desai citizens and newcomers.]

[The Wolf bows slightly, his tail wagging back and forth playfully] I had a lot of raven friends back home. They usually only spoke their normal way though. Are you a normal Raven?

That sucks. I mean, wolves can be pretty scary if you've never talked to one. But I dunno why people would hate you. Where I'm from, there were some wolves that were around sometimes. Nightmare things, but not bad guys, overall.

More people say hi to me when they think I am a dog than when they see me as a person or a wolf.
I am afraid I will scare them. Or they will want to hurt me. But I like people, so I come here sometimes. Lots of them come through here.

I never go after birds.
well there was that one time, but that was an accidentI had a lot of friends who were birds back home. But even so, I'm not much of a hunter. My pack mates were much better than I am. I just couldn't ever get it right. Other than that big walrus that once, but he came after us first.[He watches the people passing him by for a moment, silent as they walk around him, before continuing]
I don't have to hunt here. So I haven't really tried to get any better either.

Food's easier to get when it doesn't run away and all that, when it comes to you on a plate or someone leaves it laying around. [he would shrug if bird shoulders allowed such a movement] I used to hunt people when I wasn't a raven. Not to eat, though. It was kinda fun sometimes, but I like the life of a raven. It's got a good benefits package.
Hunting is overrated. If this is working for ya, I say stick with it.

Confused and silent for a few minutes, he thought about it, his ears back as he remembered the various people who had hunted him, and those who had been his friends.]
What were you, when you weren't a raven?
[His nose twitches at the thought of food and his stomach makes a noise]
It is much nicer when food is given to you then when you have to chase after it...

Date: 2010-07-08 08:40 am (UTC)It wasn't like that. I was a man before, and a G-man, so it was kinda my job. But I died and now I'm a raven. It was a long time ago, so I don't really remember it very clearly, and it doesn't matter too much anymore. Being a raven is pretty awesome.
[he gives Toboe a curious bird look]
You wanna keep waiting here, or do you want to find someplace to grab a bite? Maybe a restaurant near here is willing to hand out donations to a couple of handsome guys like us.

Date: 2010-07-08 08:26 pm (UTC)That actually sounds really good. I know a few places around here that have always been kind to me when I'm on my own as far as food. You have to be careful though. Some of the people aren't so nice sometimes. When I first got here, one of them threw a pan at me.
[Despite the comment, Toboe sounds fairly cheerful, looking around the street before trotting slowly down one direction, glancing back to see if the Raven is following.]

I'm a bit bigger than a pigeon, ya know. Plus when ravens follow people around, they thing Death is after them or something. Which is just silly. From what I remember, she's not really into stuff like that much.
[coasts along above Toboe, close enough that only the two of them can hear each other]
Ya know. Funny thing about being a bird. Can't really enjoy something like flying because it's just kinda something you do. I like it better than walking. And it gets me places that other people can't go. It's pretty cool, when the air's clear and there's not too much wind.

I generally managed to dodge the pans. It's better than being shot at back home. I don't think they really meant to be cruel, just scare me. they're good at that...
My pack mates always told me I run too much, but I'd rather just go somewhere else than get into trouble.

Say, do you have any idea what she was saying? When I'm "on the job" I have a certain flair for languages, but not so much since I've come here. Some really weird languages in a place like this. All kinds of new people.
