The more time he spent looking over this beast, the more he realized that this was probably not a dog at all. It was big and feral and a little scruffy, but it wasn't a bad sort of scruffy.]

If this animal were to suddenly turn on him, he would be an easy target, but it seemed just as confused as he was, so there was a possibility that he wouldn't be attacked. Besides, the more he stared at this "dog," taking its appearance in and letting it settle into his brain, the more he was beginning to think that it might possibly be something that he really shouldn't be alone in an unfamiliar room with.
